HNOS Online Backup Services
Why use a online (remote) backup service? To protect your most valuable business asset: YOUR DATA!Backing up data (via the Internet) is a more efficient and easier way to back up your PC files. Files are securely encrypted, copied, and then backed up to servers in a remote data center. This keeps valuable data safe from things like theft, floods, fires, accidential deletions, or even hard drive crashes.
You might already use CDs/DVDs or external hard drives to back up your data. The main difference and benefit that online backup offers over those options is convenience. To be honest, backing up your PC is usually not a priority : you forget to do it; you don't how to do it; or it might be just too much of a hassle and can take a long time. An online backup service manages the back up process for you.
Our automated, reliable, secure and easy-to-use data backup service will save you time, money, and in the case of a disaster, your business.

Data Backup Strategies
Managing "data" properly has become a critical function in business. As more and more data is needed (and stored) in order to keep your business running, selecting an appropriate backup strategy is now critical!
There are two main points to keep in mind when deciding on a backup strategy: recovery time objective (RTO), and recovery point objective (RPO). RTO is the time it takes to restore data to point where your business processes can resume operation. RPO is a specfic point in time that you can restore your data to.
As an example, you have a hard drive failure at 11:00am. The last backup was done around midnight (11 hours ago) and it required two 200GB LTO tapes to complete. Your RTO would be several hours to restore the data (two tapes) but your RPO would only be midnight since no data was backed up between midnight and the time your hard drive failed. You would in fact be missing 11 hours worth of data!
You have several choices on backup media depending on the amount of data to be backed up:
| Media | Pros | Cons |
| CD/DVD | inexpensive, long shelf life, easy to transport | very slow backup speed, limited capacity |
| Ext. hard disk | very fast backup speed, large capacity | susceptible to environmental conditions (heat/cold, shock, etc) |
| Tape | moderate price (depending on tape capacity), large capacity, long shelf life | slower than disk, but much faster than CD/DVD |
| On-line | extremely cost effective, typically backs up automatically, data is off-site | requires reliable Internet connection |
